Home Remedies with Ginger

Ginger is one of the healthiest spices on the planet as it is loaded with bioactive compounds that are essentially medicinal properties. It is easily available and helps in treating several health issues which are common occurrences in daily lives.

Ginger cinnamon cardamom tea

Mix one part grated fresh ginger, one part cinnamon, two parts lemon grass in a bowl. Add one teaspoon of the mixture to one cup of boiling water and leave it put for ten minutes. Strain it and add a teaspoon of honey if you do not like the smell of lemon grass. Stir and drink.

If you are not a fan of lemon grass, here is another remedy. Mix 2 part grated fresh ginger, 2 part cinnamon to one cup of boiling water in a pan. Add a pinch of cardamom powder and let it boil for 2-3 minutes. Strain the mixture.

Treats: Cold.

Ginger + lemon + black salt

Grate a small portion of peeled ginger in a bowl. Add a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and a pinch of black salt. Mix it and consume one teaspoon of this mixture two hours post breakfast in the morning to recover appetite.

Dry ginger powder

Take one teaspoon of dry ginger powder and drink one glass of warm water to wash it down your throat for fast relief from menstrual pain. Dry ginger powder is easily available in the market and is easy to carry around. It can be taken twice a day.

Ginger tea

Ginger tea

Add one teaspoon of grated ginger to two cups of boiling water in a pan. Boil for 3-4 minutes. Strain the ginger before drinking warm ginger tea.

Avoid drinking ginger tea in empty stomach and when it is hot even if a person is habituated to fluids while it is still hot. For people under treatment for stomach ulcer, drinking more than one cup of ginger tea a day is not advisable. Also, 1-2 teaspoons of honey can be added to the ginger tea.

If you’d like to retire after a tiring day, ginger tea can help in that too! Add one cup of strong ginger tea to a warm bath or a container broad enough to hold your feet comfortably. Relax your feet in this for about 15 minutes and wash off with warm water. It helps to reduce pain and swelling.

Ginger candy

Organic ginger candy is easily available in the market. Chewing on ginger candy when feeling nauseated helps relieve the symptoms. This is beneficial for people with travel sickness and pregnant women with morning sickness.

                                                 Ginger is loaded with benefits and it’s best to add it in daily meals. There is no quantity limit as to how much of ginger root can be consumed per day in cooked format, so you can add as much as you’d like to.

On instances when you cannot add ginger to a particular dish in cases when ginger dominates the taste, you can add 1-3 teaspoons of grated ginger root or ginger root juice to any fresh fruit juice. You could also add it to any of the detox juices.
